Why another site?
The concept for Dx Revision Watch developed out of research and awareness raising undertaken throughout 2009 around the forthcoming revisions of two important international disease classification systems:
The American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM)
The World Health Organisation’s International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD)
DSM-5 and ICD-11 Watch will distil information already published on ME agenda site around the two revision processes and present this material in a more accessible format to a wider audience. Key information and resources will be added as more information becomes available. Updates will be posted on the rolling “Main Page”.

DSM-5 and ICD-11 Watch: Monitoring the progress of the DSM and ICD revision processes
The next edition of the APA’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual will be DSM-5 (DSM-V). DSM-5 is now expected to be published in May 2013 – a year later than had previously been planned.
Draft changes to the DSM are expected to be posted on the DSM-5 website on 20 January 2010.
The revision of the current version of the WHO’s International Statistical Classification of Diseases, ICD-10, and the development of the structure for ICD-11 is anticipated to be completed by 2014.
The Alpha Draft for ICD-11 is timelined for May 2010.
